Just today I noticed that Facebook is allowing scheduled ads to run throughout the day, playing catchup with Google Adwords.
It’s about time.
Google has offered this feature for years. It’s been one of their advantages over Facebook ads.
Being able to schedule your ads from say, 5 pm to 9 pm means that you can have your ads appearing during the highest-volume time. Thus, your click-through rate will likely go up, and as a result, your cost per click goes down.
It also will mean other benefits, such as that to businesses who are looking for walk-in traffic during their open hours. They can schedule their ads during that time, or they can ask people to call them up during certain parts of the day.
However, you must set your ads for a “lifetime budget,” rather than the daily budget. I had been setting my ads for, say, $10 or $20 per day. Under the lifetime budget, it automatically set my amount to $200 and $350 for the seven-day period I had chosen. Right now I was not able to change the amount, but I suspect that I eventually will be able to, since I’ve been able to change this number before.
Another welcome change for Facebook marketers!
