Websites are ever-evolving. Have you heard about the latest trend? It’s the one-page website.
One-page websites, with their astounding graphics and easy scrolling, are gaining popularity every day. We here at TreeFrogClick recently built such a site for Restore American Liberty. “The new design has double, tripled, even quadrupled visits,” said James Komaniecki, the website’s owner, compared to his earlier conventional site.
“I could not be more pleased with the new website. I dreamed for years about doing this…. Once the site is loaded, you can see all the content.”
James also said that he’s received a good number of newsletter signups since he launched the new site.
Some features of the one-page design:
- Parallax scrolling, in which stationary images move more slowly than the text that overlays it.
- Faster browsing, especially good for mobile devices
- More attractive wide-page imagery.
- Uses the long-copy ad technique, in which the reader is pulled along little by little.
- Readers don’t have to wait for pages to load.
- Uses less bandwidth, which means more people can download the site at the same time.
What kind of businesses or nonprofits would be suited for this design? I would think those that are portraying deep-seated beliefs, such as religious or political, or those dealing with hobby or interest topics, such as music or causes. Content must be minimal, as well.
What about professional organizations, such as lawyers, accountants, dentists and so on? I would think that they would want the more serious look of a multi-page website. What do you think?
So, if it’s time to upgrade your website to a new look, and especially if you want your site to be mobile-friendly, give thought to the new one-page website.
A business or nonprofit can use the one-page site in a unique way. I was surprised when I saw this method. Give me a call at the number above and I’ll tell you all about it.
